Why This Pattern Will Continue Without Structural Change

The conditions that produce Meta’s approach to ethical concerns, advertising revenue incentives, weak regulatory enforcement, network effect-based user lock-in, and managed internal dissent, have not changed. Individual executives and product managers at Meta may hold genuine ethical commitments. The organizational system they operate within produces consistent results regardless of individual intentions.

Until the incentive structure changes through regulation, meaningful competitive pressure, or executive accountability for product harms, the pattern of launching despite documented ethical concerns will continue. The question of who is responsible for enabling that pattern is as much a regulatory and political question as a corporate one.

Bottom Line: Meta’s ethical framework is consistent and legible once you understand its logic: growth and engagement trump ethical concerns that do not create immediate legal liability.
